National Asthma Council Australia

The National Asthma Council Australia (NAC) is a not-for-profit organisation working to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people with asthma.

As the leading national authority for asthma knowledge, the NAC sets the standard for asthma care in Australia, with responsive and evidence-based asthma guidelines - the Australian Asthma Handbook, practice tools and resources and renowned education program.

The NAC provides information and advice on managing asthma and allergies for children, adolescents and adults.

This includes how to videos on the correct use of various asthma medications and devices, fact sheets, asthma action plans, and recognising the signs of a severe asthma attack and access to First Aid Charts.

The National Asthma Council Australia is a collaboration of four member bodies:

  • Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy
  • Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association
  • The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia
  • The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners

The NAC's Sensitive Choice program, provides people with essential information about asthma and allergy management. Their recognisable Sensitive Choice blue butterfly empowers people to make informed choices on asthma and allergy-aware products and services.
